Well, since I live in the same part of town from which he shipped, I figured I'd give it a shot, at tracking him down. I did not believe him, that he was an exchange student on his way back to his homeland. His english on his answering machine is too good for that, I figured him for an immigrant who has been here for many years.
I went to the Mailboxes Etc from which he sent the packages, and spoke to the person working there. Now, anyone who knows me will tell you that I can be a pretty friendly guy in person, and very disarming. After about 15 minutes talking about the shipping business (I know a bit about it), I got her to tell me the address of "Steve Sura", the name he had used. She was a bit reluctant, knowing that there had been some alleged scamming going on, but I told her that I was there as an "arbiter" of sorts, and I just wanted to peacfully deal with this, and that I was going to try to settle the case to everybodies satisfaction, without involving the authorities. This seemed to calm her down, since her little store would be off the hook.
She gave me the address which he listed as the address for UPS to send the COD money too. Sure enough, it was about 5 miles west, in the city of Pembroke Pines (A part of Ft. Lauderdale). I drove to the house, a bit nervous, but I was seriously just going to go talk to the guy, not to rough him up or anything, but to sort of make him realize that he shouldn't scam people because anyone can be tracked down. Anyways, I got to his house, and there was a Twin Turbo in the driveway, yeah.. go figure. There was also a 1993 Civic, with stickers and a large tail pipe out the back. I surmised that a real twinturbo owner happened upon our forum here and decided to take advantage of us. Then, an awful thought occured to me... what if it was someone we knew from tt.com? What would I say? I had met most of them already at the drag strip... there are quite a few of us from this part of the world...was it maybe.. Gyro? 1BadZ? DECAZ and his pumped up self? Shit... I knocked on the door, and..
IT WAS CHRIS(Miami)! Oh my God!
We lunged at each others throats, and struggled in the front yard, on the grass. Through his gasping breath, I heard him explain that he himself had gone there that day to deal with TTSteve himself. Sure enough, TTSteve came stumbling out the front door, a beaten and bruised looking fellow, and apologized to me and to all the forum members. To quote him. "I flucking solly to you gice. Preeze no beat me up no mo". So, end of story, the guy is a beaten man. In the meantime, Chris(miami) is charging me with Assault, so if anyone wants to contribute to my legal fund, I would appreciate it. Gonzalez
